The Gotcha is perhaps the worlds most popular Bonefish fly ever designed, and has accounted for thousands of Bonefish for anglers worldwide.
This simple and very effective pattern belongs in the box of every Saltwater angler and is right at home here in Australia chasing Bream, Estuary Perch and Whiting.
The body is coated in UV resin for to ensure additional durability of the fly, especially useful when dealing with Bream.
Tan wing with pearl flash and pink hot spot head is by far the most successful colourway to imitate a small shrimp.
Tied with Arctic Fox for the wing and finished off with Gulff Classic Resin over the head of the fly and body of the fly.
What i find, is that the SL113H hook is large for its sizing, so i would recommend going 1 size smaller in your hook selection.
Choose from either 1/8 Brass dumbbells or 5/32 Brass Dumbells – note that the 1/8 are wide set style which are ideal for a better presentation in shallow water which matches perfectly with the size 6 SL113h hook.
Tied on Gamakatsu SL113H hooks, perfect hook for our local species but also the hook of choice for Bonefish. Our experience indicates that the size 6 hook is ideally matched with 1/8 wide set Brass Dumbbells for flats applications that are knee deep and shallower, for knee deep through waist deep, we would recommend increasing the dumbbell weight.
100% Australian tied flies.
Tan with Pink Head, Hot Orange, Hot Pink
1/8 Wide set Solid Brass Dumbbells, 5/32 Brass Gold
