XLegs for tying Moon Crab fly patterns

Whilst the Xleg Crab legs are flat, they can be moulded with heat to create a curved appearance, as per image 3.

A simple process of heating a spoon or an Aluminium can base, with a lighter gun or similar, allowing the XLegs to soften and bend to the shape. Drop them in some cold water for setting into shape. This will ensure the crab fly lands hook point up every time.

Add weight by flattening out lead dumbbells or adding Tungsten Putty to achieve the desired sink rate.

Look at the SightCast Easy Crab Shells for carapace ideas as seen in the sample fly image. The spots are created by leeching a tiny amount of ultra thin uv resin into the easy crab shell and setting with the uv torch.

Easy Shrimp Eyes or Crab & Shrimp eyes work well when bonded in between the carapace and the Xleg Crab body.
