6 Weight SW
Light saltwater is some of the most fun you can have with a fly rod, and the Recon 6-Weight 9′ 4-Piece SW in the saltwater configuration is the weapon you want. Whether schoolie stripers or bonefish on a calm flat, hooking into a saltwater game fish with a light rod is pure enjoyment. But make no mistake, the Recon 906-4 SW has the ability to handle the task and cut through the wind.
7 Weight
If fishing for you is about chasing most anything that swims, you need the Recon 7-Weight 9′ 4-Piece Fly Rod. Bonefish, bass, schoolie stripers, carp, pike, big trout, the target list is endless for the Recon 907-4. With improved accuracy and strength, this is versatility at its best. 8 Weight
The 8-Weight 9′ 4-Piece Fly Rod is one of the two best-selling Recon length and line weight configurations. For the saltwater angler, the 908-4 is generally the first rod in the quiver based solely on its versatility in species. From bonefish to bonito, stripers to bluefish, false albacore to redfish, the Recon 908-4 is a saltwater workhorse that can do it all. With improved accuracy and strength, this rod is a sight fishing gem. If you like to drag big bass out of the weeds in freshwater, this rod can do it with ease.
9 Weight
The Recon 9-Weight 9′ 4-Piece Fly Rod is perhaps the most versatile saltwater rod configuration there is. In the Northeast, it is the standard for the four major fly-rod species, striped bass, bonito, false albacore, and bluefish, all of which range the Northeast Coast. The Recon 909-4 offers the strength to handle all of these fish and to power a line through often tough and windy conditions. Go further south, and it is perfect for snook, permit, bull reds, and even juvenile tarpon. In freshwater, this rod is a good bet for lunker bass in the weeds, and carp as well. If you spend a lot of time in salt, the Recon 909-4 will be the fly rod you use most often from beach or boat, and at this price will pay you back tenfold in the cost-to-fun ratio.Helios™ 3 is the benefactor behind the new Recon, utilizing its construction techniques and performance attributes to refine and improve the new series. Increased hoop strength, better tracking, improved damping, and ultimately, significantly improved accuracy is now incorporated into the Recon that is also stronger, more impact resistant, and offers the mid-price buyer access to the best technology Orvis fly rods have to offer.
