Who doesn’t enjoy the thrill of targeting our iconic Aussie Bass on fly?
Better still, everyone I know really amps up at the brutal surface demolition of a well-presented fly.
If you are planning to visit Lake St Clair, in the Hunter Valley NSW and want to fish the vast weed edges, muddy banks and rock walls, here is a kit that has proven itself over time. Park up the boat or kayak and walk the banks of the beautiful lake, take the fly rod and present these flies around the structures mentioned above.
Typically, this fishery relies on smaller patterns to mimic the common food sources around the perimeter of the waterway.
There are kilometers of accessible banks for you to walk, explore and target Bass in one of the state’s best Bass impoundments. With the flies in the St Clair box, Golden Perch and Silver Perch are encountered.
Boxed in an appropriate fly box, which may vary from the image pending stock availability.
Typically, a 6, 7 or 8 weight outfit matched with an Intermediate tipped fly line and a 10lb fluorocarbon tapered leader is the ideal set up for successfully walking the banks to target St Clair Bass.
